4 stars. Gold rush era Mirandy. Sign me up. This was so good. Miranda is a saloon owner and Andy works for her. It was great. I loved how their relationship developed and how protective they were of each other. Andy damn near takes a bullet for Miranda and Miranda handles creepy jackass Jefferson for Andy. It was wonderful. The side characters were wonderful as well and everything wraps up really well. I had such a good time reading this and it was such a fun time.

This story was an enjoyable AU read containing one of my favorite couples, MirAndy. The author's use of the gold-rush era as the setting is what caught my attention. Jae's [b:Backwards to Oregon|6080751|Backwards to Oregon (The Oregon Series, #1)|Jae|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1419445224l/6080751._SY75_.jpg|6257453] is the only other historical romance set in the wild wild west I've read. The Diamond Eye was a reminder of what I'm missing out on by not reading more books from this genre (or is it subgenre ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

Miranda's presence is as commanding as ever, even more so now that she has a 6-shot Pepperbox strapped to her thigh and her trusty shotgun on standby. Andy is well...Andy. What's not to like about her? Especially since she's willing to take a bullet to protect those she loves. Other than MirAndy, the other characters in the story are unique enough that I didn't make an instant connection with their namesakes in TDWP movie or Telanu's [b:Truth and Measure|34910209|Truth and Measure (Truth and Measure-verse, #1)|Telanu|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1495635263l/34910209._SX50_.jpg|56172065].

Overall, I'd read this one again and hope the author includes a one-shot in the near future. (one of those nixed endings mentioned in the End Notes would be nice...or something with Trudy/Georgiana...or a visit from Andy's family)

The Diamond Eye was a delighful Mirandy AU set in the old west.

Miranda Priestly runs a saloon called the Diamond Eye in a small but growing gold rush town in California. Andy Sachs left her Boston family behind to start a new life in the west. When they meet, both their lives change in ways they never expected.

chilly_flame knows how to write a good yarn and away from the familiar environment the main characters are still holding up. The setting is great if you like the romance of California in the times of the Gold Rush. There is a bit of drama (not too much) and hot sexy times (a double toaster oven!).

f/f

Themes: The Devil Wears Prada meets the old west, Andy sings and dances, Miranda is Miranda, yee-haw!
