An interesting scenario: wave after wave of disease has reduced the world's population by 3/4. With no one to run factories, gasoline supplies are deleted and electricity is only a memory to the older ones. Basically, the cities have been emptied and are still breeding grounds for disease. People have returned to a pre-contact Indigenous way of life. Hockey is a distraction, and played between neighbouring settlements. Then a mysterious hockey player arrives one night. A good read, but short. Suitable for mature young readers.
