This was excellent. Extremely readable, approachable, concise, and conscientiously unbiased. My only complaints are that it needs updating (a lot has happened since national’s dominance in the early 2000s) and that it feels a bit lacking in international comparisons - you don’t come away with an understanding of what’s unique vs what’s standard about New Zealand systems. However, these are minor quibbles - this book should be essential reading.
