I. FREAKING. LOVE. THIS. BOOK!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS A MASTERPIECE *chef's kiss*!!!!!

I found the main character, Jasmine, extremely relatable (except the whole bachelorette thing). AND I EVEN NOTICED HER PERSONAL GROWTH!!!! I don't usually notice character's personal growth because I'm just that oblivious, BUT I noticed in this book! I feel like it was subtle...buy not, I don't know how to describe it, but it was great. I would HIGHLY recommend this book, especially for those that love love and love chick lits :)!!!!!

Such a fantastic book for young adults, especially teenagers navigating first love. So many young women settle for what they think they deserve. Any attention they get is good attention so it doesn't matter if he kinda sucks. This book does well to show how you ought to be treated, how to start valuing yourself, and evaluate others who you're in a relationship with.

It was a little slow to start, but once the contest started and the family dynamics were in, I loved it. The sense of the big family was real, the comradery, the drama, the chaos, the love -- it was dynamic and special.

Definitely will read more from Ireland. I'd even love her to do an Adult novel so she can unleash the full unfiltered hilarity that you might spot on her Twitter account.

3.5 stars. Overall, this was a lighthearted rom com that also tackled some interesting issues. The book had a lot of interesting things to say about self esteem, which I was expecting given the premise, and trauma, which I was not expecting but enjoyed anyway. I also appreciated that
Spoilerthe story didn't end with a kiss like you expect in a rom com, it ended with enough promise to be satisfying to romantics, while also giving Jasmine enough credit to work through her own issues.

I deducted a star because I had to utter the words, "did she even listen to what they said" a few too many times. Comedies are based on misunderstanding so I get it and brushed past it pretty easily. But Jasmine was caught up quite a bit in her own assumptions, which as a reader I was able to see though very quickly.

Listened to the audio. Solid.

This one was a bit puzzling to me. Jasmine has just graduated from high school, and is planning to move in with her boyfriend, but her thinking and much of the content of the book reads much more middle school. I enjoyed it, but it took me awhile to get into it, and I found myself confused why she seemed so young. Ultimately a fun & fluffy read with more depth than you often see in a rom-com.

First off, as a Texan born and raised, most of us do not have a southern accent, especially if you live in a big city like Houston. Other than that, cute story about a loving family wanting to protect yet not over coddle one of their own. The “bachelors” were also all perfect.

Is was frustrated with the main character's persistence in letting others' throwaway remarks define who she was. Yes, she is young, but this mindset qualified for 'and stupid'.

The meddlesome family was frustrating too. And the whole scenario was completely unrealistic to the point of farce. Not to mention that the heroine's reaction to the reveal was completely justified - what kind of person would willingly participate in a scheme like this? Definitely not anyone worthy of consideration.

And finally, I resented the whole notion of the heroine defining her self worth through a boy's romantic attention. That's life-ruining BS right there. And I considered her family to be culpable in this attitude of hers. Something that, unfortunately, was never called out or addressed in the book.

Fast, cute read. I wasn't 100 percent on who was going to end up with Jasmine at first (although I had my suspicions) because all the guys seemed genuinely sweet (which they were)

I'm not a watcher of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette type shows, so I wasn't sure how this was going to go, but I liked it a lot more than I was expecting to.

I was so glad to see Jasmine learn to love and respect herself and realize that she deserved SO much better than the gaslighting jerk that Paul was. BLEH Paul. BLEEEHHHHH, bleh bleh. And that's all I have to say about him. bleh. Okay, I'm done now.
