Just the first story line all over again.

This review may be a bit biased since I am smitten with the Injustice games, but...this is one of the loveliest comics I’ve read! It pushes the normal boundaries and status quos of our usual heroes. An alternate world where Superman isn’t quite the savior—still at odds with Bats. It’s just so good. Reading the comic also gives you a better idea / details about the game’s story mode. The character designs are rad, the art is enjoyable, & the story is nice—I love the little funny bits, so it’s not all serious doom & gloom. A must for your comic collection!

The original Injustice series was not just better than it had any right to be, it was hands down the best comic DC published. That was due entirely to Taylor’s writing, with an assist of excellent artwork. But mostly his writing. The issues featuring Constantine are some of the best comics ever written, full stop.

But then a new team took over and it devolved into mediocrity. So I stopped reading them. Then I saw that Taylor had returned for the sequel. Now all is right with the world.

I just watched the movie Justice League the other day, and it’s as bad as you’ve heard. The humor falls flat and the action is dull and the supervillain gets weaker as the movie progresses. On top of all that it feels like a collection of semi-connected scenes which only tangentially relate to one another.

They should let Tom Taylor write the movies. The jokes here are *funny*, the characters have distinct motivations, and the story just flows. The plot moves right along while the twists are cool yet logical. Most important of all, Batman is an actual mastermind who is a flawed genius anticipating every scenario and staying three steps ahead of everyone else, yet he is *still* barely holding his own.

This is the gold standard for superhero comics right here.

Injustice 2 begins after Superman has been defeated and consigned to a high security prison. With the world in chaos and trying to get it's bearing back, it is left up to Batman to try and bring back order to the world.

However, as always, there's someone standing by to throw a spanner in his works. This time, the big bad is the Demon himself, Ra's Al Ghul.

Trying to find the balance between bringing back order to the world and stopping Ra's plans, Batman brings together his former teammates to help him.

While it is potentially a good setup, I hope the story gets better as we go along. I liked how Tom Taylor flips the table on Batman and brings into focus the repercussions of his actions. Hoping for the series to get better.

Tom Taylor is back! And everything is all right!

I absolutely loved the first Injustice series, and I still think its one of the top series published by DC in recent years. Injustice 2 picks up from where the Injustice video game left off (so yes, you need to have played the game or at least watched the cinematic cutscenes on YouTube to understand what it going on), and I found myself still very much invested in story.

After the fall of Superman, Batman is now trying to rebuild the world but that's easier said than done and poor Bruce can't seem to catch a break. Bruce and Clark are still very much the heart of the story, and what Taylor really excels at (and has excelled at in the previous series as well) is his handle on the characters, and making us feel them and connect with them.

There is not a lot of story in this volume really, but when the characters are so interesting and driven, maybe we don't need a whole lot of it.
