OK, but far from Koontz's best work, in my opinion. I enjoyed it, but unlike some of his other books, it isn't one I would read again.

To be fair, I have never been a Koontz fan, but I thought I would try it again. I love imagery and complete pictures, but his descriptions were over the top, unnecessary, and boring. The story itself was predictable and the actions/rationale of many characters made no sense. I am glad I got this book for free or else I would be very disappointed. Now I know I will probably never been a fan of Koontz. I'm glad for the knowledge of nothing else.

This is a pretty classic Koontz book. I was really engaged in the story, and attempting to solve the mystery before he did it for me.

There are a few things I think that short change the story: giving the main character practically unlimited wealth is convenient, but a bit lazy on the part of the author (the character can now do whatever he wants, whenever he wants because he doesn't have to work, and has enough money to charter planes, have extremely up to date security systems...etc). Second, I felt end was not as developed as it could have been. It was pretty close to 'happily ever after' that I've seen...

But for the most part, very engaging and enjoyable read!

A wealthy man who is almost instantly paranoid over medical problems. Koontz did not ( in my opinion) give enough to the store, or add enough, it jumped right into the paranoid medical problems and I had a hard time actually finishing the book.

On the fence with this one. It is very much readable, with plot lines and red herrings and thrilling mysteries to keep you hooked all the way through, but nonetheless falls slightly flat for me.

The main character is not particularly likeable nor the opposite, a detriment to the book's entire narrative. The story itself has twists and turns and suspense galore, a quality I enjoyed, but it ends poorly for me.

I enjoyed the writing as a whole, the brain-storming the book encouraged me to partake in throughout, but very much a take-it-or-leave-it one for the shelf.

I read this in a day, so it definitely held my interest. That's not to say that it didn't annoy me at the same time. So many liberties taken, so many implausible points, and a ridiculous conclusion, that it just left me feeling used.

I did not like this book as much as I liked other books by Dean Koontz. It just seemed vague for lack of a better word. It took me nearly half the book to really get interested in it, enough to finish the book. I don't know what it was about this book but it just wasn't the same as his older books

Ummm...what can I say? Not Dean's best work by any stretch of the imagination. I thought the lead-up was decent, but the climax and "shocking twist" was left to be desired. I would not recommend for the die-hard Koontz fan.
