A bit depressing, and you never really get a clear motive nor insight into the main character.

What a waste of time. I picked this up because it was recommended on a book podcast that I usually can trust, but from now on I will be giving them the side eye. Is it because it's translated from French? Is it because it's so "brave" and "edgy" because it's about a lower-class nanny working for an upper-class family? Is all this supposed to make it good? Well, let me tell you, it does not. The "big event" happens in the first few pages, and there is zero suspense or even plot for the rest of the book. ZERO. There is also zero character development. Just cliche after cliche, and not even well done cliches. Boo.

This would be an easy 5 star read if the author had elaborated on the ending. I was quite bummed out by how open the wrong was because this is not the usual type of thriller books. From the beginning, we already found out the nanny did it, so we went through hundreds of pages to look for the answers to how and why the nanny killed those children, but in the end it was only vaguely discussed. Aside from that, it was very disturbing and I enjoyed it a lot.
