I need to rant a little bit. The book was fantastic but seriously after the halfway mark the heroine started irritating me. She seriously was very selfish and I understand that Troy f**ked up but seriously hold it against him every chance she could when he was doing nothing but be remorseful of what he did to her. That he was determined to prove to her the entire book that he was a good man through his actions and his promises. AND still she was not satisfied and continued to look for flaws in him. She would hide behind her son when justifying her actions but most of the time is just came across as selfishness to keep him away for her sake.

I loved this book, I have really enjoyed this story line. I totally see Troy in a new light, and I was so curious about him, and how his story would turn out. I love the world that Kate built around her characters. There is such depth to them, and such a richness that you can't help but see you are part of the story.

I mean I get it, but I don't get it. I felt like she was really unfair and it took way too long to come around. I get trying to be strong for your kiddo and getting tunnel vision for him, but still not sure I could forgive that. Also, hard to believe you could be full time on a football team good enough to get to pros, engineering school, working full time AND 'babysitting' AND doing yard work, AND getting around. Nope literally impossible. He was swoony though and for that I will round up.

not as good as The Guy on the Right, but still very cute and i'm always a sucker for a cute father-child relationship.

with that, i did find the fighting to be somewhat pointless? Clarissa was just doing what she needed to provide for her son, though she is not perfect either. all in all, it was a cute story, and I look forward to reading about Lance in The Guy in the Middle.

I adored these characters in book one, however I fell in love with them from the get go. The leading lady with her strength as a single mum doing it alone (with her bestie) raising a very sassy son. Then there is Troy, who makes me swoon, feel for him and fall in love with him. The way in which he wants to do all he can to make her happy and their son. We are there for the roller-coaster that is their relationship. The testing of trust, honesty and love. This has a parallel time line as book one and does include across over of some scenes from that book. I cried, laughed and overall really enjoyed this book. Possibly more than the first one.
