Reading this with my son for summer reading. It's my first time reading it too. Cute story so far, beautiful black and white illustrations in this edition.

I didn’t dislike it as much as the Twits, but I still didn’t like how the ‘bad people’ were talked about and even James “‘Spin, Silkworm, spin, you great fat lazy brute! Faster, faster, or we’ll throw you to the sharks!’” Not necessary & I wouldn’t bother read it to my kid because it’s not what I want him to think is ok to say to people. Just an ok read to me, it was imaginative but not for me.

My 6 and 9 year olds couldn’t get enough of this one. Never has the youngest been willing to sit for more than a chapter or two without pictures, much less 40+ pages in a go. 10/5 stars according to him.

I won't even try to review this book objectively - it gets five stars from me for being the first chapter book I can remember finishing. Child Me absolutely loved it, and I'm sure I've read it upwards of twenty times (kids sure are suckers for repetition!)
