Read this and then go watch Werner Herzog's most recent documentary Fireball.

Never thought I’d read a book on icosahedral 5-fold symmetrical quasicrystals but here I am. I have a new appreciation of geochemistry

This is a wonderful book that taught me about a branch of science I knew nothing about and combined with a rip-roaring detective story that takes the beginning of our solar system, KGB agents, illegal mineral dealing and a journey to Siberia.
I really liked it showed science and scientific discovery is not some dry boring event but an exciting up and down journey of discovery.

I was hoping it would be more engaging and exciting. But not all scientist can write riveting popular science books. I need more lyricism with my science (like Carl Sagan’s and Richard Dawkins’ books).
