Thought provoking and well written essays. I really loved some of them. A couple of them felt like they didn’t fit in with the others. It felt like all together in one book it was missing a theme.

A read I will revisit over and over. The humour, tone, and surrealness of the essays and Jia’s observations put me in the passenger seat on a entrancing tour.
I found this collection after voraciously reading an article by Jia on “Instagram face”. This book did not disappoint.

Very enjoyable and lovely writing, but it’s really nothing new. The most impactful chapter was “I in the Internet,” but the rest was just a historical breakdown of pop cultural moments from a feminist take. I think I’ve just taken too many sociology, history, and gender studies classes that it didn’t hit as hard as it would for traditional audiences.

nothing original, went on looooong tangents, writing was nothing revolutionary, way too long, no conclusions to the essays other than "i just gave you the pros and cons about this subject. I am both right and wrong.", basically pointless reading this just have a conversation about the topics with friends and you'd get and learn more from them than this
