2.5 stars rounded up. Yes, there are some recipes I'll try. But holy sweet potato batman! It is almost every single recipe including... green bean casserole! What?! Her descriptions were a bit off-putting as well. The exclamation points, the "oh this is just as good as meat" - it felt preachy and fake all at the same time.

I will have to make several adaptations to these recipes to make them suitable for all of my dietary needs, but there is a solid foundation to all of these recipes that I can work from them easily. I also loved the author’s balance of personal stories and connection to each of these recipes. I grew up with southern and soul food, and my dietary restrictions from autoimmune disease and now veganism really made me feel like I was never going to be able to eat some of my favorite foods ever again (still looking for a delicious vegan biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak lol). I am so excited to make a sweet potato pie and fried “chicken” (cauliflower).
