The illustrations of the scenes at night with the light shining through the windows were great. I think this book would have had more feeling if the characters had been human instead of rabbits. The illustrations are the main draw here (no pun intended).

Lovely bedtime story. The illustrations were beautiful and made me sleepy with their soft tones, making the black of night seem more peaceful than scary.

One night a little Bunny is being carried home by his mother and imagines what people around him are doing. He knows one thing though, everyone goes home to sleep. This is a great book for bedtime...with or without the kiddies.

A beautifully complex set of interleaved lives introduced and then left are presented here as a mother rabbit brings her tired child home through the dark streets. There is one plain narrative here and a number of side stories that tantalisingly come and go through lit windows and doorways. In the tonal and colour range and (to some extent) rhythm this is akin to Eve Rice’s wonderful “Goodnight Goodnight,” but it lacks the simple comfort of that book: “The Way Home...” seems touched with sadnesses in the partings, the haunting, near-empty streets, the blank eyes of the characters; it is as if there is a restful sleep for some, but not all.
And thus there is a deeper, less comfortable world view here than we might expect in a simple bed-time story.

A cute children’s tale about a tired bunny going hole to rest and peering in the windows of others as she is carried home.

This is interesting, because as a child I had no concept of people who I passed having lives outside of the shops in which they worked. This child thinks about people going home. WILD.

I would very much like someone to read me this book as I was falling asleep every night.

Another beautifully illustrated book by Akiko Miyakoshi.
A soft and slow book about a young bunny going home at night with her mother and noticing and making up ideas of what all the other people she sees on the way are doing at night.
