If you are slow burn fantasy loving reader then boy do I have the book for you! This book will have you laughing out loud at the witty sarcastic banter and screaming at the slow burn sexual tension! January’s writing is such a tease in the best possible way! I loved the dynamic of this rag tag bunch but be warned this does end on a cliff hanger!!
Kyrie is a lying stealing thief who’s talked her way out of most trouble with the use of her ability to coerce people with her silver tongue. Unfortunately she steals an item and unknowingly curses herself. The only way to break the curse is with the help of The Sword the most feared follower of the god of death. They must trust each other in order to save Kyrie. What starts as a simple mission to stop the blood curse turns into so much more with meddling gods, interesting characters and secrets that threaten to tear it all apart.
I could not put this book down and was wholly unprepared for that ending but my god am I ready for book two!

I really loved this book, but I had to drop it from 5 to 4 stars for how often the MMC contemplated how the FMC was going to despise him for “what he had to do to break the curse” (unknown to the reader until the last several pages).  By halfway, whenever he started those musings, my eyes would glaze over until I got back to the action/other dialogue.
The other thing that took me out of the story was her curse; I felt like it was never fully explained and so left me confused as to why it was the main driving force, plus how Sola’s crown was needed and how it would be Sola’s revenge on Hraken.
Despite the above, I really did LOVE this book. I was invested I all the characters, loved the banter, and thought the dialogue flowed smoothly.
Much to my chagrin, book two isn’t out yet but I will IMMEDIATELY be getting it once available.

This is an easy 4.5 stars. I’ve been a fan of January Bell for quite awhile now, and I’ve never been disappointed. After falling into quite the reading slump, I had all of my fingers and toes crossed that this bad boy would be the book to pull me out of it, and as always with this author, it delivered. The characters immediately stole my heart and had me invested in not only their relationship, but their individual characters. I found Kyrie’s quirky personally to be executed perfectly, bringing that perfect balance to my favorite trope.. I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers banter, what can I say!?

Overall though, I genuinely think this book is one of January’s best to date. I’m looking forward to book two!

That slow burn pulled me in and that twisty cliffhanger about did me in. Well paced. Interesting world building. Fun characters. Can't wait for more.

OMG the whole ride is amazing. I was in a bit of a fantasy slump when I started this and I’m so glad I did, it got me out of it and I devoured it. The story is so well planned and the characters are perfect! So much of fated mates, found family, epic quests, and slow-burn spice! I love the magic system so much. I will definitely bd continuing with the series cause MAN, that ending was a cliffhanger! oh boy it was just so good!

OMG I love this book!! Kyrie needs "The Sword" to break her curse. But they are enemies and their gods are also enemies. But she helps him. So he has to help her. What will happen next?
Will the curse break ? Or will the god accept the Sword's desire ?
I love the fantasy world settings and love the enemies to lovers vibe.
Kyrie has a sharp tongue and quick wit and she is the master in theft.
The Sword is a brave and powerful man. Their character development is good.
But you need to read the Trigger Warnings first.
The banter is also nice. But this book has a major cliffhanger.
Waiting for Book 2!!!

Thank You to the author for sending the copy of the book.
