*Audiobook*
One of the greatest horror stories of all time? Okay then <.<

This was bad. So very very bad. Usually my preferred way to read a horror is through audiobook format but maybe that hindered this one because so many people absolutely adored it and I just feel extremely underwhelmed by the whole thing. Nothing creeped me out, all the characters were super bland and I just couldn't wait for this to end. Maybe I should try the Netflix show? I've heard great things about that...

1.5 stars.

Books like this make me wish I paid more attention in Literature in school. I want to love it but I just don’t know how.

I love Shirley Jackson but this book was so slow. It didn’t feel very spooky or horror to me (we the tags indicate). The book focuses more on the characters and their banter than the scary house. You could see Eleanor being effected by the house but it felt like a side plot to me. I just felt disappointed by this book

I am surprised how much of a cozy read this is especially the earlier parts. I also love the characters especially Theodora. I feel like it's too short thought so many questions left unanswered and what happened with Eleanore wasn't really described a lot more clearly and especially when she crashed into the tree what happened after that  The ending seems lackluster, I would like it if it told whether Eleanor was alive or not and what the others reactions to what happened to Eleanor is. I hated incomplete endings so this particular ending isn't it for me  I do like the horror feel though this book does terrify me and it's a pretty good book.
