How a single action can change a life.

This book was intense. From the start there’s already high drama and you immediately feel for Wyatt as he goes through something harrowing. I felt just absolutely heart broken for him and so empathic to how he dealt with it all, not just the event he went through, but the horrible consequences it brought.
It was so well written, the dialogue was realistic, the characters well developed and the writing style very pleasing.

It gave a good representation of the way guilt and grief manifests itself in people. Yet at the same time it gave us the sweetest of relationships as well.

Worth a read!

Scarlett was meant to be his fantasy, a distraction from the guilt he feels when Hank Jenkins calls telling him he could have saved his wife, and working out what he is going to do with his life, but now he finds out she’s working at the precinct and he’s going to see her every day.
Wyatt normally forgets women after he’s been with them, but he can’t with Scarlett, she surprises him again by agreeing to a date, if he lets her help him and he finally thinks he’s met someone who gets him.
Scarlett loves how easy-going Wyatt is, her only concern is she may lose her heart to him, but he’s romantic. Hearing some news, she knows that she’s going to have to be strong to get Wyatt through everything, and she may even lose her heart to him in the process. Wyatt goes through the hardest fight of his life, while Scarlett stays by his side the entire time.

Wyatt and Scarlett are enjoying a weekend at the beach before they have to head back to reality. The run into each other and the mutual attraction is strong so they spend one night together. Both understand that is all it will be and both only want that. Monday morning at Scarlett's new job as the police department's new psychologist she runs into Wyatt again as he is ordered by his captain to attend therapy sessions. Awkward.

This is a story that deals with mental illness and how someone's guilt can be so powerful that it can break you. This one had me bawling but I LOVED it. I thought it was very well done. I loved that the recovery didn't completely happen behind the scenes. I loved how strong Scarlett was for Wyatt. I loved how Wyatt didn't throw a fit and accepted that he needed help. I loved how his whole family and force rallied behind Wyatt as a support system. Just a very well told story. Love love love.

Heartbreaking and Heartwarming
This book was so far from what I was expecting. It was much deeper and more meaningful. Wyatt is such a lovable character but he is surrounded by amazing well written secondary characters. It was refreshing that so many of my favorites made a cameo. This author never ceases to amaze me with her talent at bringing new and touching storylines. Wyatt's story made a personal impact on me and inspired me.
