interesting, but by the end the diary entries were a bit wearying. makes me keen to watch the show, though

I don't read a lot of non-fiction, but this sounded interesting. But I made the mistake of trying this back to back with another non-fiction read, and my brain wasn't having it. I kept spacing out. I will probably come back to this later, but my brain needs its silly little romances for a minute first.

Ann Walker and Anne Lister's union two centuries ago was truly inspiring.

Overall, I thought this was a great introduction to the real life of Anne Lister (and Ann Walker)! I picked this book up after finishing the series and was pleasantly surprised by how little the show was dramatized. The story of these two women has moved me “in a thousand ways” (iykyk)… I imagine I will continue to dive into Anne’s journals for many years to come

Quite repetitive nature in storytelling, and some grammar issues in the text made it hard to grasp. Found it hard to get through this book, merely because of my distaste for academic reads.
