I LOVED this story. Course, I am a Nicholas Sparks fan and am having fun reading all his books! :) And the ending was very good, the sad part surprised me, but I really like the book! And, of course, it totally made me cry!

Picked this up semi-randomly because I couldn't remember why I hadn't been reading Nicholas Sparks' books for years. (I think it was just lack of opportunity crossed with more pressing books.)

This is more balanced than some other romances I've read, though still obviously filling in some tropes. Denise is a very human character, with the joys and frustrations of being a parent; Taylor is driven by something in his past but still managing to be a nice guy; Kyle is just a sweetie.

Possible Spoilers?
3.5 stars.
Although a cute book, I had a bit of trouble getting over some of the problems with the scenes in the fires. As a firefighter's wife, I know way too much about the gear they wear. He would not have had to hold his breath for so long because they would have had oxygen. Besides those inconsistencies, the story was cute. Typical Nicholas Sparks: Tragedy and grief.
