"Billie the Bull" is a mysterious book. The publishing house who made this no longer exists, making it hard to find or even read (which is saying something in this digital age). Shout-out to Powell's for hooking me up with a used copy.
I've had high exceptions for my first xTx read - I heard about this book through a Mudlicious Press interview six years ago and I've wanted to read it since. Sadly, It didn't resonate with me as much as I would've hoped, but 26-year old Cail would have loved this. The prose itself is raw and angry. The images are captivating but feel off-kilter too often. The narrative is surprisingly lucid throughout. I just wanted more.
Hats off to xTX for writing this ferocious, tiny book --ironic with how big Billie is portrayed. It is worth your time to read.
