Lovely pro-choice book that builds a menacing aura of building steam towards violent or deadly conflict, but Haigh chooses to let fate derail that conflict. In this way the book gets in the white supremacist incel mind, the prepper mind, the propensity to violence and misogyny, without actually perpetrating the violence. The female character gets to live! All the anti arguments are suitably hollow and disgusting.

I wanted to love this book. While it was well-written and a great topic, I felt we were inside the minds of the men too much. I thought Claudia was going to be the main character but instead, so many incels' internal monologue and storylines. And then Claudia makes a mistake that she sees others make endlessly and it 'just happened'. Ugggh.

3/5 star read! While I was expecting a narrative revolving around workers and patients at a Boston abortion clinic, this story covered many more characters who touched the women's health clinic. I enjoyed reading it, but didn't feel like it gave me a strong takeaway message. I was expecting a gripping story that would stick with me, but this was pretty mundane in the end. It was still interesting and while it didn't exactly give me a new perspective on anti-abortionists, it did introduce those perspectives in a convincing way.
I was also surprised by the ending, but not entirely dissatisfied!

This is a book that covers the hot topics of today (and yesterdays as well). The author does a good job shedding light on multiple points if view on several of the controversial subjects. It’s not a book you’d pick up and read again and again, but it’s a good one-time read.

I was disappointed by the ending, and it's more about men than it is about women, which I also wasn't expecting. Claudia is, I guess, the main character, she's a woman who grew up in poverty looking after foster siblings, is in her mid-forties and works in counseling at an abortion clinic in Boston. The other storylines (this book does the alternating chapter, alternating p.o.v. thing) are male characters who I had trouble telling apart. I disliked all of them. I'm not even going to list them because they all seemed like white guys with a grievance. The writing and characterization are good in this, but I didn't like the characters and I didn't like the ending. Probably won't read another by this author.
