I was excited to begin this book, but felt the different timelines and identities were challenging to follow. After a while, it felt long and I was excited to just be done with it. I did love the main character and found her easy to root for.

Well-written and fascinating historical fiction about Nancy Wake, also known as The White Mouse, an Australian living in France at the time of Hitler’s rise to power who became a spy and military leader in the French resistance. I listened to this as an audiobook and remained gripped by the story throughout.

While reading this book I had to remind myself that Nancy was real. Nancy Wake was a real person, a real female-spy, a real kick-ass heroine who fought the Nazis during WWII. I had a couple of moments when I thought "I'm gonna give this book two stars, this all is too fantastical to believe". But it actually happened! She really was this amazing person and she really did those amazing things!
Thank you, Ariel Lawhon, for introducing me to Nancy Wake! Now I want to know more about this absolute wonder of a woman.

P.S. Also If you are into audiobooks, this one is a particular treat. Starting with the unmistakable Australian accent and continuing with all the French, both accent and language.
