I LOVED this book! It was non-stop heart pounding action and it was right up my alley. I don't like super scary books or movies but I do love what I call Monster/ Creature books and movies. This fell into that category for me. It was so much fun and entertaining to read. There was a cast of well rounded characters, there was a mysterious "contagion", there was plenty of action, and a major cliff hanger that has me clamoring for the next book! I could not put this down!

This was a fun space horror YA title - plotwise it's a combo of Aliens, the Doom video game movie adaptation, and the first Resident Evil video game movie adaptation. So let's just say, not particularly original. This is not a bad thing at all as I love all 3 of those movies and they are all huge guilty pleasures of mine (like multiple viewing kind of guilty pleasure). In all honesty, I think it's pretty hard to do original space horror stuff. Usually it's discover gross new alien life on planet that somehow attacks the unwitting human explorers so this is about par for the course. The writing was well done though some of the characters grated a little too much - a complaint I don't normally have, I have a high tolerance for annoying characters as I know that it's usually a characterization that the author meant to have and not all characters are meant to be appealing. There's one in this book though that I really, really wanted to punch in the face.

I'd still recommend to space horror fans looking for something light but fun.

Lazy symbolism and obvious foreshadowing for anyone with a passing understanding of Greek myth.

The ending literally made me roll my eyes.

I'm honestly torn between a 3 and 4 star but I went with 3 because it did take awhile to really get into the book. I absolutely love the concept of the book! When I read the description I immediately thought of a Doctor Who episode and I eventually fell in love with the characters. I hope the sequal is a bit better and establishes more character development and relationships.

I’ve read books like this before. It was not particularly unique and I found it to be a little predictable. However, it was still a fun read. I co-read it with my book club partner who doesn’t normally read sci-fi and she really enjoyed it. So I think this one will really be about perspective. It’s about a symbiotic zombie virus that SOME people are immune to and an idiot space captain that gets everyone killed because she won’t listen to reason so it that sounds like your kind of book then by all means give it try.

Fast paced sci-fi adventure. Almost a YA version of "Alien," and this is good. Plot was a little convoluted at the end, perhaps the sequel will clear up some of the confusing threads. Thea is a good, strong female lead- no crying and waiting to be rescued.
