<i>"You will make yourself unworthy by considering yourself unworthy. We become what we are afraid we will be, Layla"</i>

I have been staring at this cursor blinking on my screen for 5 minutes and I'm honestly not sure what to say.

Cassandra Clare said "What if I wrote <i>Clockwork Prince</i> again, but slightly different?" It hurt worse the second time because I trusted her. I should never trust this woman with the second book in her trilogies. I should, actually, never trust her. I don't know why I haven't figured this out until book 19, but I know better now. (I will make this same mistake again)

The words "sick and twisted" are merely not enough for this book. This is ghastly. This is horrid. And..... I loved it. There's little no joy in this, if we are being honest. This is an angst fest. The only moments of peace where when the couples I wanted to kiss, finally did. But, there was an underlying sadness and angst to all of them that I couldn't even be fully happy that they were smooching. The miscommunication trope is the main theme of this book; the very foundation of this book, even.  I was actually punching my book and gritting my teeth many times throughout.

I'm excited for this last book, but also very sad. This is the end of an era looming over me. I suspect the best way to describe it would be that I am melancholy. I know it's not the last Shadowhunter Chronicles book forever, but it is the last one for a long while. The Shadowhunter Chronicles has crossed my mind everyday since I started in in February. It feels like a relationship is coming to an end so soon after it started.  This has honestly changed my life. I know that sounds dramatic, but it's true. I'll be even sappier in my last review. Till then... see you on the last one.

This might be my favorite book I’ve read all year and I’ve read some books I really loved. Even better than the first book in this series (which is another of my top reads), this book was fun, the banter punchy, the tension INFURIATINGLY EFFECTIVE, the plot twists many, and the prose—as usual—quite well done. “The gasps I gusped” is an adequate description for this book, and the number of times I audibly cried out or reacted in some way…yeah, lost count. READ THIS SERIES!!!! If I could give it six stars, I would.
