Pretty cool. Kind of a middle grades version of Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

The book itself is a fun middle grades read but 300+ pages of avoiding the word “autistic” (or Asperger’s Syndrome) to describe the main character was more stigmatizing than inclusive. If teaching/reading with children or students, PLEASE include other information about Autistic people and self-advocates, since Ted’s neurodivergent experiences are such an important part of the book.

Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, #ActuallyAutistic, and #OwnVoices are great starting places.

I wanted to like this book, I truly did. However, I never felt a connection to any of the characters in the story. At best I was mildly interested. At times I was downright bored.
