Having an anthology be a mix of mild fantasy and horror is certainly a choice, and not one I enjoyed. In the end I only really liked three of the stories: The Deer Wife by Jennifer McMahon, Bless Your Heart by Hillary Monaham, and How to Become a Witch-Queen by Theodora Goss (no surprise there, her inclusion is why I picked up this book). There's two authors whose stories I hated so much I have taken note of their books and will never read them.Â

While I didn't love every story in this collection, I did really enjoy the majority of them. Since this was a collection of witchy short stories, it didn't bother me that I didn't completely love them all. I really liked hearing stories from different cultural POV; I would absolutely read another book like this (and I plan to!). Overall, I would recommend this book.
