Interesting and very thorough history of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Readable and well-paced. Best read in conjunction with other history books on the period - from this book, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Chernobyl accident led directly to the fall of the Soviet Union, when in reality the situation is perhaps more complicated. Good mix of social, personal and economic history, with a lot of science as well, but very understandable to a lay person (I know nothing about nuclear science, and understood the key concepts well). Overall, I recommend it.
