This is by far my favorite book in the series! I love how everyone ends up coming together and a little bit of Olaf's story is revealed. My favorite quote from the entire book is "Burn down hotel" from Sunny. It broke my heart and I even got a little bit teared up a the end. Out of all 13 books, I can see myself re-reading this one much more often than the others, provided I didn't read them in order of course!

My fave in the series without a doubt. Well, tied with Austere Academy because I love the Quagmires 5ever.
I love the return of so many old and funny characters. This book is just everything I expect out of this series and I love it!

"For Beatrice - No one could extinguish my love, or your house."
I hate hate hate the horrible backwards writing in this book. I hate it. I hate how long it took for me to figure out what it was saying, and I hate the fact that I didn't My sister had to inform me on the way to read it. Damn it. When I was able to read the backwards writing, I found this book quite enjoyable. It wasn't as good as some of the others but it was much more enjoyable than the last book. I just wish it didn't feel like I was reading a thousand page book. It seemed to never end. Nevertheless, I felt like crying when this book ended. It seemed so upsetting that they would never see Mr Poe again, that really hurt my heart. I'm almost in tears just thinking about it. It ended a lot better than I thought it would.

All I can say is, Snicket has a LOT of explaining to do in the final book. :D

My favorite book in the series so far; it sets a high bar with only one more book in which to wrap everything up. The setting of a hotel that is organized by the Dewey decimal system is perfection, and the reappearance of so many secondary characters that are featured in previous books is both icing on the cake and a grand reward for longtime readers of the series. The Baudelaires' growing doubts about their own morality is literally put on trial in the story's climax, with Easter eggs present in the evidence submitted for and against their innocence. I remember very little about the final book in the series from reading it the first time, but hope that it can measure up to the excellence provided in this penultimate installment.
