Honestly, this was entirely cheesy and completely frustrating. The writing style is creative but this feels like a short story with a lot of filler and fluff that doesn’t really add to the story. It’s not all that well written, very amateur but it’s definitely a lighthearted read that’s pretty easy going and quick to flip through. Annotating every single thought and reaction I had to these characters is what got me through this book.

The interesting thing about this book is that it is told from many multiple perspectives, none of which are our “main characters” (the ones falling in love). These perspectives even include a squirrel and a bench. This makes what is a basic romance story into something creative. I did like the characters and that Gabe had a legitimate health issue that led to some of the tension in this book. I liked the professor and her wife, and the barista. It was a little bit out there at times but that make it enjoyable!

This book can be cute at times, but it mostly misses the mark on that. I mostly just felt disconnected from the couple, but I was rooting for them to get together. I also did like the multiple points of view, but it felt gimmicky at times and Sam and Casey felt like the exact same person. Overall, it was fine. Nothing I’m jumping for joy about.

First, the things I liked about this book:
-I bought this book because it was so unique. I've never read a book with so many point of views. It's something I've never seen before. When reading, the constantly switching povs didn't throw me off. I wasn't confused as to who was who or what was going on.
-I enjoyed the humor in hearing from the squirrel and the bench’s pov. I didn't expect it and for that alone, I give the book a point. It's inventive and creative.
Now for the things I didn't like.
-All of the characters revolve around watching and reacting to Gabe & Lea. They have no lives or backgrounds of their own. I would've loved to get to know each person as their own character.
-The characters are all one-note. One is “closed off”, one is “angry”, one is “annoying”, etc. And it's practically spelled out for us. We never learn why these characters are the way they are. (for ex. Victor could always be mad because of his home life, money problems, or some sort of stress) I just felt like there was no character development.
-The dialogue was not realistic. It wasn't how people talk to each other. Another thing about the dialogue is the way it's written. There are lines and lines of text, but nothing telling you who said what. Sometimes I would lose track of who was speaking and have to go back to the top and reread to try and figure it out.

-When Gabe’s in the car with his brother there is no mention of panic or fear from him as I assumed there would be. There is no mention of his crash until his brother tells him not to punch the driver. The opportunity to convey the weight of the situation was there. I would have liked to learn about how the crash has/still is affecting Gabe’s life. I think that's what the author was going for, but it just feels underbaked. Another time I noticed this is when Gabe tells Lea about the accident. Lea’s reaction seems so strange and out of left field. She says,
”I feel like things have been weird and crazy and if maybe you had told me this sooner, I would have understood. But I had almost nothing to work with. Can I have some time? To think? I’m sorry it’s a lot to take in.”
I just don’t feel like the weight the author was going for was conveyed clearly before this scene, so it feels too abrupt and dramatic from Lea.(Slightly off topic but, after this Lea says,
“Walk me home?”
Which directly undercuts what she just told Gabe. It just feels very inconsequential)

-Lea is, at times, selfish and narcissistic. Which makes it hard for me to root for her. To me, she's not very likable.

-I was disappointed that we never got to read Gabe & Lea’s pov. I thought the last povs being Gabe & Lea’s would tie up the story well.

Overall, this book is a nice fluffy read. If you like romance stories you’ll probably like this one. It is different from the rest with so many povs.

Super cute romance book! I forgot how much I loved all the different POVs in this book! Easy read!
