Overall, I just thought it was a bit one-note. She was slowly being possessed and so she had no autonomy and so how were we supposed to judge what was and wasn't within her control? It was a case of an unreliable narrator and the conceit of the book made that tricky. I wasn't surprised by anything cause it followed the demon naturally. There wasn't really a climax because of that. No big event that shifted the novel toward the finale. And aside from the demon, the marriage between Ed and Amanda was tenuous at best. I know the demon was riding shotgun for the majority of their fights, and it was hard to tell what truths were hidden between obfuscated lies.
For example, when she said he should get a cell phone for the future when she can't reach him, that was SO reasonable. And he blew up about it before she could blow back. Then when they were on vacation, she woke up feeling bad and when she said as much, he got mad that they 'never did anything fun anymore!' Dude, if your wife is sick, that's a very valid reason to not go out. Maybe that was intentional but I think the dissolution of their marriage was inevitable. The demon just sped the process along.

I also really dig the theme of a situation worsening from denial and inaction.
