He called her 'love' 71 times in the span of 294 pages.

Doesn't necessarily stand out to me, but overall it was an okay read.

Perfect, mindless “buffer” to read. Little to no character development. Honestly I’d recommend this to a 17 year old wanting to dabble in smut for the first time lol

I would give it 3.5 stars but that isn't an option.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I will give her another shot, but I felt like this book lacked something.

It definitely started as a quick read but then I got bored because there isn't much character development. I felt like we did not get to know the characters but bits and pieces here and there. I liked what little we did get to know about the characters.

Harper is starting over in Orchid City with a new job, new outlook, but she never expected a night out and a heated moment with a mystery guy could change so much. Niko is a professional hockey player and from the start you can tell he is different, yea he is still cocky and yet he isn’t over the top and he is sensitive. The chemistry between these two is explosive and off the charts hot, but there are many reasons why they can’t be together one being they work together. I absolutely loved their story and once Nico was in he was all in wanting everything he could have with Harper. Such an amazing read with hockey, steam, a head over heels in love hero, and a strong heroine.

REVIEW
cw: mentions of death, cancer, DV, toxic relationship
Harper is a sports photographer, newly recruited to the Orchid City Vipers hockey team. on a night out she meets Nico Cirone, an up-and-coming rookie centre. Though she tries, she's unable to resist him for long, even if it might mean her job is on the line.
This was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I was hooked (intentional hockey pun) immediately by the player superstitions angle, and particularly loved that aspect of Nico's personality. He seemed sweet, if a little cocky and overbearing. Harper was a sports photographer who didn't really want to be a sports photographer (conveniently, considering the no fraternisation rules in the hockey organisation) who'd gone through trauma in her previous relationship, but didn't really act as if she had. Unfortunately there wasn't much character development, and I found the actual relationship superficial with very little emotional depth, and reminiscent of instalove stories. Both characters jumped very quickly into decisions, and though there was plenty of heat, it didn't really feel earned.
I did enjoy how much on-ice hockey content there was (something that has been lacking in several of the hockey romances I've read this year), but the story was ultimately let down by inconsistent editing, with tense changes mid-paragraph. It also needed a LOT more editing as the language used throughout was repetitve, and the use of the endearment 'love' was used so frequently it became tedious.
Not for me unfortunately.

Overall Rating: ❤️❤️
Heat Rating:
