This book very effectively uses multiple types of media to tell a story. I was worried at first that the story might be kind of hokey, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not very often that I am sucked into creepy books in a way that feels creepy, but this book managed to do it. I would definitely recommend this to my students to read.

Very cool idea. The book is in journal format, but also includes passwords to a website where there is video footage "posted" by one of the characters. A little creepy and chilling, but not too scary or gory for upper elementary.

I read this book in elementary school and still love it! It’s written in a journal format and throughout the book there’s passwords to go to a specific website they give you to watch a video; which goes with that part of the story. This would be in a teen thriller category but it’s still enjoyable. If you want a super easy read with a thriller taste I’d definitely say this is your book. In my opinion it’s kinda fun!

I’m excited to read the rest of the series, and they are available on KU too!

This is a very interesting concept. The author is combining written word with web video to add to the suspense and the mystery. really the only downfall is that you need to be near a computer when you get to a video or you have to stop reading until you can get to a computer.

This is the first book in what looks to so far be a trilogy. The second book in the series is called "Ghost In The Machine" and the third "the Crossbones" comes out on September 1, 2010.

I’m not gonna say this was great, but it was enjoyable.

I wish more authors would work in a multimedia space like this. That part was really interesting to me.

Read this for my Children’s Literature class. The addition of online videos to the storyline was extremely cool and original; never read something involving that. Overall a good mystery and would definitely recommend to kids between 7-15 or anyone who feels like reading a middle grade book.
