This book helped me realize how I could both understand my anger and approach it productively. I think I could have saved myself a lot of heartache and broken relationships had I read a book like this sooner.

Wish I had read this years ago!! Definitely provoked me to reflect on some hard truths and my complicity to the dance of anger.

Good information. Interesting to recognize how so many of men’s and women’s responses to situations are culturally taught (ie, an avoidable response for a man is not necessarily acceptable for a woman and vice verse). It can be difficult to find your own self amid the myriad expectations. Dr Lerner teaches good skills to change patterns but it can still be difficult to self-assess and make those changes. Find a counselor if needed.

"Most of us have recieved little help in how to use our anger "

As per the title this book concentrates around intimate relationships but the advice at times does transfer over to work and life in general. A good start for those struggling to control or verbalize their anger

Stumbled upon this book and author as recommended by Brene Brown. Don’t think I’ve ever finished a self-help book so fast. If you’ve ever struggled with accepting and harnessing your anger, this is a really good read. Lerner allows you to be angry without letting you blame or unnecessarily dump. Typically I gloss over the anecdotal stories in these types of books but I found myself resonating with a good number of them even if the situation didn’t match mine exactly. For example, a work scenario she describes could easily be the same dynamic as one in my family.
