Thanks to my reading slump this book took me a while to finish, but it was so worth it in the end. The ending left me absolutely gobsmacked. Holy heck what just happened??

There is a LOT going on with this book. I enjoyed how Butcher managed to weave all these threads together, but man, there's a lot. Also, Butcher doesn't pull any punches in the emotional damage - this one hurt. A lot.

I am interested to see where things go from here.

Exciting and fun. There were a few shadings of character that I didn't quite buy, but the overall appeal transcends those flaws.

audiobook note: James Marsters is simply amazing as a narrator, and he is a perfect fit for this series.

In order to rescue his daughter from Duchess Ariana of the Red Court of Vampires, Harry must call in favors from both allies and enemies alike, and is forced to make numerous life altering decisions that put his morality and strength of character to the test.

A well-written installment with just the right amount of wit and humor to balance out the gripping action and raw emotion of the plot. Harry’s internal struggles with the difficult choices that he must make leads to some of the most intense and compelling moments in the series.

While several story elements are a little on the predictable side, i.e, Dresden’s deal with Mab, Susan’s fate and Martin’s betrayal, there are others that shocked me to the core, such as the identity of Harry’s grandfather, Lea’s actions on Harry’s behalf and one very interesting member of the Grey Council. Regardless, it is clear that Butcher is extremely skilled at both plotting and misdirection.

On a final note, the book does end on a cliffhanger, but as I will be continuing with Ghost Story immediately, this is not as annoying as it might have been.

Loved it. If you're reading the series, this one's one of the best. Longer review later, trying to figure out how to avoid spoilers.

There is so much hype on this book and this is worth all the hype. This is definitely best Dresden Files book to date.

There were so much plot development and huge reveals in this book. All the small clues in the previous book have been wrapped up and revealed in this book which is massive.

Can’t wait to read the follow up book.

I made it through "The Dresden Files" for a second time. I know that there are 3 more books to the series with another going to be released soon, but having gotten to this point I truly don't think I want continue on. I feel, at least for me, "Changes" is content ending to the series.

There is so much that happened during this book that I don't know how the series can pick up from all the events that Harry has experienced I'm not sure I want to see him rebuild. He lost his car, apartment, office & health which makes him go & make a deal. That deal Harry made is nothing more that what anyone would do for their loved ones & his losses were more than what most could handle.

I'm not sure why the cover artist insists on putting Harry in a hat, but do like Butcher's little zingers that Harry doesn't do hats.
