Hmm, well, the ending was neatly done and more or less satisfying, and the long introductory portion (which irritates many readers, who object to this sort of Post Modernist meandering) was oddly entertaining, if you like Samuel Beckett plays. The middle portion - the novel proper - fell flat, though. It had a drab feel, not inappropriate to the setting, and seemed rather plodding, rather like the main character. Which is fine, unobjectionable, really; just not that interesting.
