The Song of the Marked by @authorsmgaither .

Talk about an overlooked gem! This book is amazing marriage of What Lies Beyond the Veil, Throne of Glass, and Defy the Night. The story surrounds Casi, a thief who escaped the Fading Sickness, and Elander, Captain to the King-Emperor, as they work together to discover the evil causing the Fading Sickness and why Casia survived.

Let’s talk about Casia and Elander. From the get go, the banter is so on point between these two. They keep being shoved together and Elander is trying to tell Casia to not trust the King-Emperor. WHY WOULD SHE LISTEN TO HIM? I really enjoyed how the story company together as a fight between is the King-Emperor or the Captain the one to trust? Hint: you are wrong for whichever you pick

Entertaining, but very badly written. Was there even an editor? I am continuing the series so I can't be too harsh. I wonder if the author gets any better as the series goes along.

This book? Incredible. I LOVED the way S.M. detailed the characters and built the world. It was a true treat reading this book. I never felt bored, there was a lot of action and I didn’t feel like the book lulled at any point. It always kept me interested.

The relationship between Cas and Elander was SO GOOD. I really felt that their relationship’s progression was solid and believable. The banter was banter-ing FOR SURE and that was one of the best parts.

The world building, like I mentioned above, was really good. I felt like I was transported into the book and never wanted to leave!! I’m excited to read the next few books!!

Pretty decent fantasy romance…except I read it over the course of a month and by the time I got to the end I didn’t even remember the plot which is so annoying cause the ending was so good!
