I'm not sure if whether the author has ever met a woman, or has and just hates them. Flat and completely unsympathetic to the main female character. (It also needed more airplanes).

What an incredible writer. The writing is intelligent, the cities, situations, and feelings so well described. This book was a bit slow, and did repeat over the same topics a bit - the difficulties in their marriage and the things from the war that haunt them. But it was honest, unvarnished, and didn’t gloss over the difficulties they faced after the war. I wished for more resolution in the ending, but that’s my preference.
