This book made me laugh out loud and also cry multiple times… the woman knows how to make you feel. I had never heard of Jenny Lawson before I randomly picked up her first book at the library, but I loved both books - highly recommend.

I was recommended this book forever ago as being very funny but also touching. Unfortunately I didn't find it to be either of these things. Maybe if I was familiar with Jenny Lawson I would have gotten more out of it, but as it was every story felt like a "so random" girl from 10 years ago telling me stories she thinks are funny and I think are sad.

An amazing, beautiful, weird book. So encouraging and funny. Filled with so much wisdom and relatable reflections of mental illness all interspersed chaotically between hilarious and weird anecdotes, and yet it's done so gracefully and meaningfully. I love this book so much and bought a copy for myself.

I read this with my wife. She rated it 4 stars, and I rated it 3 stars, so I took the average of our ratings for this review.

"Sometimes I wonder if the best thing to do is just to be quiet and stop waving the banner of 'fucked up and proud of it,' but I don't think I'll put down this banner until someone takes it away from me. Because quitting might be easier, but it wouldn't be better." (p. 321).

I really appreciate how honest and vulnerable Jenny Lawson was in this book. I think it's really important to talk openly about mental illness, and she did a beautiful job of capturing what it's like to live with it. The book is also funny. Some of the chapters dragged on and felt a bit long.

Very funny and lighthearted way to look at depression and self-expression.
