I really enjoyed this book, it was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I’m not sure I could look after a colony of ferals as it would upset me too much but the people that do are true angels.... this book makes you realise how important trap, neuter and return is.... I also loved how the author is very spiritual in his writing. I hope this book is enjoyed by cat lovers the world over.

I really enjoyed this book which is saying a lot because I don't normally like nonfiction. This is not a book for the fainthearted. The author does not disguise the horrors of felines living in the wild trying to survive what is wild. However, he adds in sections about his life in India and other countries where he studied before settling in California. He weaves those into the stories he tells about the cats. He and his housemates name all of the cats, and his descriptions of them help the reader picture all of the personalities. It gives the readers an accurate picture of the feral community.

Parts of this were difficult to read due to the nature of the content, however, what a terrific book!! All cat lovers and even those who don't claim to be, need to behold this gem! Throughout the story that the author tells, he mixes in Buddhist/Christian sayings and real life events that relate to the direction of his speech. This beautiful book has spoken to my heart and has given me faith in the human race which was slowly dying.
