I read this on Radish and loved it a lot. Luke and Alexa are great characters and I enjoyed the built up between them immensely.

The reason I didn’t give this 4 stars like I originally planned to, is that it needs revision at some places: conversations and shared information between the leads were repeated many times as if it were new information each time.

This book was OK. Honestly though, it felt like a mess. Much of the book I felt the author was TRYING to write one way but kept writing the other. Many times it felt they chose writing in past tense instead of present and it became confusing for me. I'm no grammar Nazi but even that bothered me and I was sure it wasn't correct. Lots of bits being repeated, even when it was said in the previous chapter.

I don't think the author had a good feel for either of the main characters. I felt like I had an idea of their personality and then I would read something they did or said that shattered that and made me wonder who the hell they were now. Nothing was consistent for me. The writing was a bit of a mess. Lots of bits that would be fine cut out. It has potential but definitely needs some revising.

Cute slow love story that developed from a wrong email. I was expecting this to be naughtier than it was. I enjoyed the story and watching Alexa and Luke grow.

Who needs another billionaire book?

You do! Luke is not your typical rich guy. He may be "old" money, but he's not been coddled. He has baggage, he's bent but not broken. Alexa is uber smart, a down to earth, sarcastic, geek, girl next door. I love her character, she's so resilient. The journey to their HEA is not easy, they often fight themselves, but it's funny and sweet, and romantic and a totally engrossing read.

I did finish reading this book, but I felt like I had to push myself through it. I liked that the FMC is portrayed as an intelligent female going after her PhD and that the MMC, while he comes from money, is trying to make himself a self-made and independent man.

However, the dialogue is repetitive; the inner monologues are repetitive; and the text messages between the two characters are repeated as well, so that you see the same text messages in both the FMC and MMC POV chapters. The characters also felt flat to me.

I didn't really feel the tension and push-pull between the two main characters.

I was expecting a big climactic scene, given what we know about the FMC's ex, but any action takes place off-screen, so to speak.

At a glance:
- Dual POV
- Fake dating
- Only one bed
- Open door
- HEA

Content / trigger warnings: cheating; controlling, abusive stalker ex; deceased parents; family tension; mention of the Confederacy

Easy read but few problems

This book was really easy read and I enjoyed how the two main characters met, I thought it was really new and different and hadn’t been done before in any other I’d read. However, I did feel like there was a lot of back-and-forth where one of them would decide that that was the end and then they’d get back together like the next day or that night, just seemed a bit unnecessary for it to happen about five times throughout the book. I can understand maybe once but five times was ridiculous. It did also seem like conversations were repeated over and over again, for example, when they were going to the beach house, I think Alexa must have asked Luke at least three times on separate occasions if he wanted her there but it was the same conversation every single time. So I think with a good edit and a few tweaks this could be a really good book.

It think it was a very nice easy read. Sometimes one of the main characters was a bit too easy with changing her mind, but okay I can live with that.
There was a nice amount of humor in it, what made me smile more than once. A nice feelgood story.❤
