This might be my favorite Backman book that I've read so far. I love a good short story and this one makes you think. A great Christmas time read that gave me A Christmas Carol/Victorian ghost story feels.

I like Fredrick Backman so much and, while short stories aren't generally my first choice, I enjoy what he has to say. I had read the second story somewhere before so skipped that one but enjoyed the first and third, particularly the third. Backman' metaphors are a bit out there but they give a unique take on the world, on ourselves and how the two interact. I'll pick up anything this man writes.

I think maybe my expectations for Backman have gotten a little too high. If I could attribute a 2.5 to this, I would. It's okay. The illustrations are beautiful, which definitely helps. I don't know that it had the same woven flow that we have seen in his other works. It also seems weird to me that this is a Christmas book, considering the only thing concerning the holiday is the actual date. This could have taken place at nearly any other time of year, probably working best with it being the winter time, but still, that kind of irked me. This is not a necessary read for EVERYONE, but only for people who have read a lot of Backman, who enjoy him, or want a very short novella to cozy up with (and for that purpose, this book actually works pretty well).
