It's an enjoyable book, but I'm not sure I loved it. I found it dragging and overwrought at times. Sometimes so much was happening it seemed overwhelming and at other times it felt very slow. Probably my least favorite of the trio.

It took me a while to get back into the series, because it had been about half a year since I had read book 1 & 2 and I didn’t remember some details very well. The start of the book was quite slow, with Evangeline trying to gain back her memories. Afterwards, it gained speed and I got back into it, enjoying the dark fairytale vibes again. In the end, some questions were left unanswered and so to me, the series feels a bit unfinished and maybe it’s because I haven’t read the Caraval series yet but it feels like a little bit of a lazy way out for the author and made me feel unsatisfied. All in all, I still liked it though.

i did read this in one sitting because i am in love with this series but i feel like Ms Garber left us hanging a little bit and it didn’t hit like the first two
