This book was extremely disappointing for me so I’ll have to give it a two star rating… and even that’s being generous. I was looking forward to another book written from Lestat’s point of view but unfortunately I felt that a lot of his actions were extremely out of character. Of course the book was well written and maybe I’m just being too picky but as someone who adores the previous instalments of Lestat’s journey, this novel put some strain on my perception of his character. I’m hoping that the next novel in the series redeems him somewhat.

This book brings the focus back to Lestat and his quest to regain some of his humanity. He makes an effort to limit his victims to criminals. He is having dreams about Claudia, who we met in Interview With The Vampire. Lestat is lonely and in the throes of some type of depression. Lestat winds up in a terrible predicament when he switches bodies with a devilish creature. Marius becomes angry at Letstat because of this, who must scheme and plot to attempt to recover is vampiric body. I said that Queen of the Damned was my least favorite of the series, but this one moved to the top of the least favorite list. It wasn't a bad book, but it was just not my favorite so far.

Another old favourite (picked up as a palate cleanser from all the newly released books and their obsession with babies); it holds up. I have always enjoyed books and stories that help me see the world and my place in it with a new perspective. In this, the Vampire Lestat offers interesting insights into the human condition as only he can.

The story is good, but MAN I found it incredibly hard to get into it properly. It just seemed so dragged and written so overly detailed and complicated that reading it became a chore rather than a pleasure. Momma didn't raise a quitter so I finished but thank GOD it's over.

A big reduction in size from the previous volume, but the suspense was top-notch. It's fun watching Lestat grow as a character.

Lestat returns, in this the fourth novel in the Vampire Chronicles. Lestat, always one looking for trouble, always philosophizing, meets with a Body Thief: a man capable of switching bodies with other people, most of the time against their will.

Lestat agrees to switch bodies with this Body Thief for one day, so that he can feel what it is like to be human again.

As one expects, everything does not go as plan, and Lestat has to try and get himself out of the dangerous position he has put himself in.

I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of Lestat's rediscovery of human life, although it made being human suddenly seem disgusting to me, and made me, much like Lestat, wish to be the immortal undead.

This was another wonderful foray into Lestat's psyche and his world, and I am still immensely enthralled by this series.

I am a little bit apprehensive about the next one, being Memnoch the Devil, given some of the reviews which I have read on here, but I am still going to give it a bash.
