This has been an easy read, being translated into modern English. I was surprised how much they knew about the world's geography. They mention India, China and Mongolia. The wife of bath had travelled to Jerusalem, Rome, Spain and Cologne.
Some stories are better than others. Many involve Christianity and Roman and Greek legends, often a mixture of them all.
It was good to be able to read the original English titles to see how the language has changed.
The Canterbury Tales is such an important piece of literature but this translation makes it accessible to modern readers.

These tales are a perfect remedy for the "are we there yet" syndrome and the cry out for a reread. Approaching these tales as an adult is a very different experience than reading them as an assignment in high school. But, of course, The Miller's Tale is perfect at any age.

I read this during my A Levels and I just loved it. Loved it more than Shakespeare.
