This is a more fleshed out version of some of the work in Take Me with you. Powerful and moving...

This book contains one of my favourite poems, Maybe I Need You.
Andrea has such a unique way to turn a phrase that punches you right in the chest.

This collection contains some of my favorite poems by Andrea Gibson, like "Ashes" (written from the point of view of a GLTBQ+ soldier tortured and burned), "Maybe I Need You" (about love and heartbreak), "Somewhere, a Carpenter" (about Andrea's love for their grandmother)... Honestly, I feel like nearly all of the poems in this collection are favorites, and they tend to make me bawl.

Some redundancy. Little flow. The poems, by and large, just didn't resonate with me. Worst of all, one of my favorite poems, "The Nutritionist," has been added to since publication, so the version in the book is incomplete and missing a lot of the best lines. I think The Madness Vase is worth a read, but Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns is much better.
