So. Fucking. Twisted. And. Good. Jane Doe will be a novel you will either love or hate, because of the main character Jane herself. Jane is very memorable due to her sociopathic ways being written so well by author, Victoria Helen Stone. I found myself volleying back and forth on a range of love and hate for her actions, but she was also a character I really felt invested in. Being seduced and seducing Steven, a character I definitely had a hate-on for, to get her revenge was a bit delicious and also messy. While I did not feel bad for Steven, I did feel bad for the guy (who's name escapes me) who tried to love Jane. I will warn you that once you start this book, you will be wanting to stay glued until you get to the last page. After I finished this book, I recommended it two other friends that gobbled this one up as well!

Cold. Rage. Pretence.

Loved this book so much!  I really enjoyed Jane as a narrator; how cold and logical she could be, intermixed with her dry humour. She’s a fascinating character, a queen, and honestly the best kind of sociopath.

I enjoyed this book. The plot moved quickly and kept me interested. I hated Steven and his misogyny enough to want to read more of it and I admired Jane's quiet disdain for him. A very satisfying ending.

My sister-in-law Belinda recommended this book to me, memorably calling Jane “the sociopath we need in 2018.” That was certainly enough to hook me! Jane is on a revenge mission--at first the details are hazy, so I won’t spoil anything--but she’s taken a low-level temp job in order to get close to her target, Steven. Jane pretends to be sweet and innocent (and a little dumb) to get Steven’s attention, but on the inside she’s plotting his downfall. Once they start dating, Steven wastes no time in confirming Jane’s suspicions about the kind of man he is, but in order to maintain her cover, Jane must bide her time and put up with his preachy, chauvinistic crap. It’s admittedly a little difficult to spend so much time in literary company with a guy like Steven, even knowing Jane’s plans for him--he really is THAT detestable. Narrator Nicol Zanzarella is almost too good at the voice for Steven, making his vicious verbal abuse and whiny non-apologies truly cringe-inducing. However, the payoff is worth it and the book ended exactly as I wanted it to. Jane is indeed the best kind of sociopath.

3.5*

Halfway through this book, I was sure my rating would be a solid 2.5 considering the pacing and the fact that there was really no conflict whatsoever. But fuck... I really liked this.

I LOVED Jane. she was hilarious and fought for everything I stand for.

Steven basically triggered my fight-or-flight the entire time and I simply wanted to jump into their world just so I could finish him off myself.

Luke had my heart fluttering the entire time.

Now why not a higher rating? Well...

1. I didn't like the fact that Jane had to constantly remind us that she's a sociopath. By now, I think we all know the traits of one so if the traits were simply shown rather than told, we would've gotten it without it being shoved down our throats.

2. the lack of conflict. yes, the ending was definitely satisfying but if it wasn't for Jane's awesome sense of humor, I would've dipped at the 50% mark. i NEED something to keep me at the edge of my seat and the story didn't really do that.

But overall, really enjoyed this one. consumed the whole thing in a day and that alone deserves the round up to 4 stars.

Jane Doe is an incredibly smart, chilling and well-planned psychological thriller. It's my first foray into Stone's off-romance stories, and I absolutely loved it!
Jane is on a mission, and she will do anything to make it a success. And she's very good at getting what she wants - only she ends up with even more than she wants, which was extremely satisfying.

Instantly knew the authors views.  Was not enjoyable. And, as a woman, I do not live in fear.  I have a healthy dose of caution for certain areas or situations but I don't live my life in fear thinking someone going to do something bad to me.  😕
