3.5 rounded up.

This collection hooked me in with the first story (Bad Boy) but didn’t deliver as much as I hoped throughout. The popularity of her story Cat Person speaks volumes & Roupenian’s writing is articulate and accomplished.

It was just that some of her stories fell a bit flat. They built well but the endings felt half-finished and didn’t achieve the same impact with the final closing lines.

These stories turn a magnifying glass to the dark and dirty and they’ll definitely get under your skin. I guess I was hoping for more depth than I felt I found overall in the collection.

Fans of Samanta Schweblin, Intan Paramaditha and Shobha Rao might also enjoy this short story collection.

Forse il problema dell'età adulta era che valutavi troppo attentamente le conseguenze delle tue azioni, tanto da ritrovarti con una vita che ti disgustava
