As someone who enjoys gothic stories and mysteries I thought this would be a perfect fit. Unfortunately I just found it to be ok.
This book might be better suited to younger audiences. I found some of the characters to be annoyingly immature.
There was a good amount of female friendship and empowerment. Would be good for early teens perhaps. I probably would have enjoyed this quite a bit 15 years ago.

A compelling cross between a retelling and a sequel of a few (too many) classic monster stories. Woman centered this time around! Unfortunately, I found it all pretty boring.
The one gold quality of the story, strong female empowerment, was sadly deflated by the inclusion of Sherlock Holmes. What a perfectly wasted opportunity for someone like Enola Holmes to have saved the day instead.
The author added character interjections, something new to me. This offered a connection to the characters in a way not possible through a narrative. However, it ruined the flow of the story for me.

it was cool and entertaining. i just didn’t really care. maybe because i'm unfamiliar with all the fairytales these girls are based on. I don’t think i’ll continue the series

Well told story with an authentic female perspective
It’s a tale of the horrifying injustices men commit against women and the victories of women despite them, all wrapped up in an amalgamation of classic literary characters and their respective lore that works without being at all on the nose.
The only jarring element in book is that of Sherlock Holmes actually being a pleasant enough fellow.
