The Campion books are all so different from each other! This one has since similarity to Look to the Lady, in that it is more about uncovering a historic mystery than resolving a present day crime. The Fitton family were great characters and hopefully will recur in later books. Another glimpse of Campion's well hidden inner life.

Wonderful!
Spoiler warning! So many things to enjoy in this book. A complex villain (Brent Savanake), a bunch of henchmen, Albert Campion and his cronies, Lugg and Scatty, a parchment drum head, a "crown", and radio receivers, amplifiers, and large speakers hoisted up into trees in order to find another bell via resonance.
