For the middle book in a fantasy series, this was fine. Artificially recreated some romantic tension and political drama, but mostly a fairly slow progress that's much more setting the scene for a future throwdown. We got more out of interesting secondary characters, but I mostly wished our main characters would stop making foolish decisions, no matter how well intentioned, and that they all got on with it.

I really really loved this book, wow.

This was fantastic, and I'm so excited for the finale come September.

This book was definitely a bit slower and less action-packed than the first, more of a story/world/character building middle book I'd say, but definitely not in a bad way. I still loved this book and it made me adore all the characters even more.
