Some really great parts to this book especially the first chapter about the American gun club. I skimmed a good portion of the book because of the long outdated science speculation. Fascinating read

At the end of the Civil War, Barbicane, president of the Gun Club of Baltimore, raised the project to send a cannonball to the moon.
Michel Ardan, a daring Frenchman, offers him to make a hollow projectile where he would take place.
Nicholl, the opponent of the project, joins him on this extraordinary journey as well as a third companion.
This first volume is the prelude to a great adventure. It is followed by "Around the moon".
Jules Verne, quite simply, lays the foundations for NASA in Florida. It is a fascinating story written with talent by the master of anticipation.

"Well, I feel that we should always put a little art into what we do. It's better that way."

I have been fascinated by Jules Verne's work for a long time. It amazes me how he imagined so many things only for them to come true; and not only that, also give so many principles of science and technology that came a century later

Just lost interest and never picked it back up. I think I was reading it for a challenge, which has passed. May get back to it someday!
